Cannot select Part/Edit (new part editor) to create a new part

Cannot select Part/Edit (new part editor) to create a new part

As it is greyed out ie not selectable.

Any ideas please.

You need to select a part to edit before it won’t be greyed out. You also need to start from a part that has the correct number of pins as parts editor can’t change the number of pins. These two tutorials will probably be helpful (old_grey’s covers parts editor, I don’t use it.)

I lately learned there aren’t links to the videos in Old_Grey’s tutorial so you need to do a google search for the title and then they come up on YouTube.

Can anybody tell me what’s wrong with this file?

cd4069be.fzpz (6.7 KB)

This has been generated by Microsoft Copilot AI, and I am trying to teach it.

Only by telling it, no that fzpz does not work. Then it gives me another modifed file.

After 6 attempts I gave up, and went to bed.

But it would be interesting to see how close they got to a working one. They also provided the 4 svg’s.

Anybody willing to have a look and get back to me.

The .fzpz can not be unzipped, so it isn’t a valid .fzpz file. Ah! It is the .fzp file without the svgs or the necessary part. prefix (i.e. part.cd4069be.fzp) a correct .fzpz file when uncompressed looks like this:

part.prefix0000_2831a6f19938d01c8f6d8eccfc7a7e54_1.fzp

svg.breadboard.prefix0000_2831a6f19938d01c8f6d8eccfc7a7e54_2_breadboard.svg

svg.icon.prefix0000_2831a6f19938d01c8f6d8eccfc7a7e54_1_icon.svg

svg.pcb.prefix0000_2831a6f19938d01c8f6d8eccfc7a7e54_1_pcb.svg

svg.schematic.prefix0000_2831a6f19938d01c8f6d8eccfc7a7e54_1_schematic.svg

I doubt that AI is going to be successful in making Fritzing parts, but I have basically no experience with AI either. If you want to make an IC the section in my tutorial on using the generic IC would ne the appropriate place to start.

Peter

AI gave me a zip file. I tried to attach it to this forum, but zips are not allowed.

The following is the zip file unzipped.

rename it to .fzpz (which is a zip file) and then it will upload.

I just went to these links and they show all that parts of the videos with the times but there are no links to the actual videos. How do we find the links to the videos?

By reading the last two lines of the post which tells you how to find the videos?

Peter

These 2 lines?

----------Please don’t post in this topic so I can keep all the videos together----------

Start a new topic if you want to talk about something here.

No, these two lines at the bottom of my post which would have answered your question if you had read them..

Peter

Sorry I didn’t see those. I thought you were talking about on the page where the videos were listed.
