Remove parts pin numbers?

I’m getting complaints from some people about the little (gray circle) pin part numbers. Like on a resistor, one pin is “1” and the other is “2”.
I have tried to edit them out with no success, can they be remove completely ?
Thanks,
Don

In the Schematic View you can hide the pin numbers by clicking on View in the top menu then un-check Text Layer, But that will hide all the text numbers and labels on the drawing…

Thanks Steelgoose but that takes out the internal pin numbers on the micro’s also. That would really cause problems…

OK… to remove the numbers permanently on the resistor (you can always put them back in); in your Fritzing core folder open the \fritzing.0.9.3b.64.pc\fritzing-parts\svg\core\schematic\resistor.svg file (it’t about half way down), in a text editor (I use notepad++) and on lines 16 and 19 delete the numbers 2 and 1 at the end of the lines, save the file. You can do this to other .svg files as well. If you ever want to add them back in you can always do it later. Or you could just delete the whole text lines if you want. :relaxed:

You don’t need to restart Fz but you will need to drag a new resistor out for the numbers to not show up.:

EDIT: or you could make the Text lines as a remark by enclosing them with,

<!--  -->

I think that at the next restart git will decide the files in core are corrupted and reload them taking the changes out again, so this won’t be a permanent solution.

Exactly what happened, I though I make a mistake… Tried to change it back to original, would not work.
I decided to re-download Fritzing and got caught in the middle of the new changes, took an hour to download then some “parts” were missing. Was about to pull some hair out when a parts update came along… Some fun…!
I’m going to use the program with the little pin numbers showing. If some of my people don’t like it that’s just to bad…
Thanks everyone for your help.
Don

I don’t know what happened… I tried it and it worked perfect… I then changed it back and it worked perfect.

Did you just delete the numbers? It won’t change the ones that are already dragged out. The change only take place on the new ones you drag out. What kind of problem did you have?

I may have changed the wrong numbers. I’m using an iMac El Captian 10.11.6
Found the Max OS/svg/core/schematic/resistor files but the pin numbers were not where you said they should be. I did fine only two lines with pin number data and that’s what I changed. I sure mess things up with that move.
Don

The two lines with numbers would have been the text lines. There are only two text lines in the resistor.svg.

Two lines? here’s what I have…

<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' standalone='no'?> 2 1
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' standalone='no'?> 2 1

This forum won’t let me send all of it, or most of it.

You have to enclose it in the Preformatted Angulars Brackets above.

</>

Past the code on the page, highlight the code starting from the blank line above the code, then click on the angular brackets symbol in the menu.

You will see what it looks like in the right window…

The magic of extra spaces :slight_smile: . The forum reacts to the < as a formatting character but you can often fool it by adding a space after the > like this to get it to print what you want:

< text class=‘text’ font-family="‘Droid Sans’" stroke=‘none’ stroke-width=‘0’ fill=’#8c8c8c’ font-size=‘0.881944’ x=‘1.39347’ y=‘0.721784’ text-anchor=‘middle’>1< /text>

In this case it is the >1< /test (noting the extra space in the last <) that you are interested in. It will show up in the preview window (when the original doesn’t) when you get the spaces right.

He has 20 lines of code… he would need to do it to every line. The Preformatted block is the way it should be done and some forums get upset if you don’t do it that way. Blynk is always telling people to preformat the code. Besides, it makes it easier to read when it is preformatted.

Ah! The trick is that you need to indent the text by 4 spaces before pasting it in. I had tried the preformatted option before but without indenting and it didn’t work.

Peter

The trick is to have a blank line above it and highlight to code starting from the blank line… Weird, don’t know why it works that way…

Just delete the number 2 and 1 in the two text class lines at the end of the lines between the two angular brackets as above.

Save and drag a new part out…

Another was to block out the numbers is make the text lines a remark by enclosing them these symbols:

<!--  your code...  -->

Then you can just delete the symbols when you want to add the numbers back in…
