So everything seems to be working fine, but I have a suggestion for how the OPAs (the two on the right) could be arranged more easily. A 1206 capacitor is much easier to solder, there’s room for it. And you can comfortably route a track through.

The whole thing would then look something like this (not cleaned up yet):

Hey there, real nice work, had a little time between this and that… and got the board finished. The op-amps and the MCP are all going on adapter sockets — if one ever dies, I’d have to desolder it with hot air etc., which can damage the board / other components in the process…

I still have a question about the ground routing… if I want a ground plane on the bottom side, do I just go to Fill Area? Will all components that are connected to ground then automatically have a connection down to the ground plane?

Yes, if that’s ever not the case, Fritzing usually issues a warning. Though in my experience this can vary from version to version. The fill function has seen a number of changes over the years. When a warning does occur, you occasionally need to help things along with vias and/or extra traces. Either way, a manual check is unavoidable.

Extra vias to the ground plane are also commonly used to reduce the resistance to ground.

If you want to do this for the decoupling capacitors, you would place a via in the ground line directly next to each decoupling capacitor. Though that’s pretty unnecessary here, since the adapter already takes care of that anyway. The only advantage of an extra via is that it’s fully integrated and has no pad.

wanted to play it safe but with that the project Esp32 / Mega2560 PLC is done…learned a lot about programming and wiring…
can recommend it, the whole thing emulates a Siemens S7-1500 and is even better in terms of technology, maintenance, power saving, user-friendliness — my main goal with this is actually just to learn S7, S5 was part of my retraining course…that was quite some time ago…
