In the bz2 Archive is a zip-File, which contains the bz2 file.
When I extract the archive on another host with bunzip and look at the file:
Fritzing-1.0.8-2843: DOS/MBR boot sector; partition 1 : ID=0xee, start-CHS (0x3ff,254,63), end-CHS (0x3ff,254,63), startsector 1, 1638479 sectors, extended partition table (last)
That’s not a dmg-File.
Can you please check the Release?
Just for the record (macOS 26.3), I just clicked on the link in my previous registration email, downloaded Fritzing 1.0.8 and everything worked as expected—.dmg file downloaded, mounted, application transferred to Applications folder and new application launched without problem.
I don’t know if that might help sort out what’s going on in your situation…
In MAC os Sequoia this file appears giving . version 1.0.7 is the dmg and it was installed without problems

1.0.7 downloads fine, gets the dmg-File.
1.0.8 is a bz2 archive, which does not contain a dmg-file.

Exactly, that’s the problem, it doesn’t have a .dmg file
I thought I saw another post here about some browser or configuration downloading a dmg file as a zip. Try just renaming the downloaded file to .dmg instead of .zip
rename .bz2 to .dmg, it works
