[solved] USB power connection beginner question

Hi all,
probably a stupid noob question:
can I simply connect two USB sockets in parallel to a 5v DC power supply to operate two USB devices simultaneously (assuming, of course, that the power supply provides sufficient power, e.g. 1A at 5v for 2 devices with a power consumption of less than 1w each)?

like this:

I can solder two wires together, but I don’t really know what I’m doing there…

Yes as long as the supply has sufficient current for both devices that should work fine.
