I need to use this part:

IRLML6346TRPbF.pmd (infineon.com)

I wonder if I can use the generic foot print
of the part list under Spartfun transistor
sot323 and also if the pads will have the
same dimensions.

You more likely want this one:

which is a Nchannel mosfet in a SOT23 package. You should be able to change the part number in Inspector to the correct part number.
