Unfortunately, as per the silk screen marking, and the presence of soldering points instead of the Linear Voltage regulator, I am certain that the given board in the fritz file is R2, not the R1 as given by the OP, which is exactly my board.

So do care for the difference in the silk prints @centuryp.
i.e. one of the quirks being:
R1 has the digital pin count include the TX and RX pins (i.e. considers TX and RX as D1 and D2 respectively).
R2 discounts TX and RX pins from the D grouping i.e. D2 of R1 is D0 of R2. (i.e. pin starts as TX, RX, D0, D1 ……).

Otherwise both use ESP8266 so there’s that.
Not sure if D4 and D5 share the same connection to MOSI and MISO like R1.
