Is there an ATmega1284P PDIP 40 pins part ?

A google search of the form “fritzing part ATmega1284P PDIP 40” turns up some hits (none exact.) If one of those won’t do then a generic IC with the pin labels changed should do what you want.

Yup, tried that obvs., none appropriate. I’m trying to use an ATmega32 and changing it, but have problems with Fritzing software at the moment.

The generic IC is likely to be much easier. Making parts is difficult unless you have a lot of experience. Drag the generic IC in to the sketch.

change the pitch to 0.6in and pins to 40 to get a 40 pin dip package.

edit the pin labels and add the labels from the CPU data sheet.

If you like save the result to a bin for later use. Done.

Thanks Peter, I shalll give that a go :+1:

Well that was ridiculously easy !! Here’s my first attempt, good enough fopr what I need -
