Help with using custom parts/importing into library

Hello everyone, I have a number of custom parts I have used in a current project, when I save and close the project it asks me if I wish to save and import the added parts. Is that all I need to do or should be doing? I was reading a post about copying a GitHub repository to keep Fritzing parts updated and accurate(I believe it was only for an older windows but not to sure). Im just curious if I am doing anything wrong or missing anything by importing the parts that way to that project.

I am on windows 10 by the way.

Imported parts are separate from the repository. Fritzing stores them separately. After importing one or more parts in a session, you should get 3 ‘save’ prompts on exit. One for the sketch, a second for the parts, and a third for the user bin. You probably want to accept all three. If you were only importing the parts, to get them added for later sessions, you can reject the first to save the sketch.
