Fritzing 1.0.8 Released

Hi everyone,

Fritzing 1.0.8 is out. This release speeds up everyday editing, adds a native Linux ARM build, and makes part updates safe.

Highlights

  • Multi-selection Inspector: edit several selected parts at once, with common values, package swaps, and group editing for wires, holes, and net labels.
  • Part-locking overhaul: undoable locking, a visible lock symbol that stays out of the way, locked parts no longer swallow clicks, and new PCBs start locked and sticky.
  • Bug markers for broken parts: broken third-party parts and damage from very old Fritzing versions used to cause silent routing problems. A bug icon now marks the exact part or wire, with a tooltip that describes the problem.
  • Native Linux ARM build: a new aarch64 AppImage runs directly on a Raspberry Pi. We tested it on Raspberry Pi OS Trixie. It needs glibc 2.39 or newer.
  • Net label styles: legacy, outside, or connector aligned, with left and right alignment. New labels default to outside.
  • Safe part updates: we corrected the 5 mm LED footprint. The anode and cathode markings were swapped, a long standing issue, difficult to fix because this part is so widely used. A new Part Migration dialog brings fixes like this into your sketches: it keeps your values and wires, and you can undo it. A separate blog post will explain the LED change.
  • New parts: the Infineon BLDC Shield (IFX007T), the Infineon XMC4700 Relax Kit, and a community-contributed WS2815 12 V RGB LED strip.
  • Many bug fixes: crash-recovery data safety, a printer-friendly BOM, paste-mask and via handling, net label widths, simulation stability, and more. See the changelog.

If you have older sketches lying around, this is a good release to open them in. The Part Migration dialog offers to update their parts. If something breaks, tell us here in the forum or open an issue on GitHub.
