Disappearing search icon

For no apparent reason my search icon (magnifying glass) which had been at the top of the parts list, disappeared. I googled my problem and tried all that was suggested. Nothing worked. I’m using Mac OS 26 (Tahoe).
I got it back by getting rid of the inspector (Window >Inspector (uncheck it), grabbing the bottom frame of the Parts list, and pulling it down to its full extent. The missing icon popped up somewhere in the middle of all the other icons and I dragged it back to its rightful place at the top of the list. I then shrank the parts list to about half size (grab the bottom frame and moved it up), then restored the inspector list that goes underneath the parts list by going to Window>and checking inspector.

I was about to suggest you can do this

Click the up and down arrow at the bottom of the bin selector (circled in red here) to move the list down until you find the magnifying glass and drag it back up, but your method works as well (if you have a sufficiently long screen at least, the arrows work always!)

Thank you, Peter, for your reply. For reasons I don’t understand, the “click the up and down button of the bin selector until the search icon shows up”, never worked for me. Yet, I grant you that is the quoted way of restoring it. Perhaps having two ways to relocate it is going to be useful!

What fritzing version and operating system are you using? For me on Windows the parts bin movement buttons have always worked and I don’t see a way to disable them. I don’t think I have ever seen anyone say they weren’t working, but I could be wrong or not remembering a previous post (a search in the forum search bar would be a good bet though to see if there is an earlier occurrence and a solution that I am not aware of.)

I’m using a MacMini with the M4 CPU chip. The OS is Tahoe 26.0.1. Perhaps it is because it is a Mac – always a bit different

Maybe, but the developers (unlike me) have Macs so perhaps one of them will try it and see if their Mac has the movement buttons. QT (the framework underlying Fritzing) is intended to be platform independent and should (although there may well be exceptions!) work the same everywhere I think.
