As the title suggests, in the breadboard view, how do i change the physical size of the standard sliding pot?

You would need to use Inkscape or another svg editor to modify the breadboard svg file (which is more complex than this brief reply makes it sound).
No worries. Thanks again for your help vanepp. I was thinking that I could edit the part within fritzing. lll Google it more to learn what you described or I’m sure someone out there has one that they have already modded.

Have a look at these two for a start (both in here):
(Edit: November 2016: This is an updated (and corrected) version of the original parts creation howto. This version corrects some suggestions (mostly saving Inkscape files as optimized svg which turns out to cause other problems) with the first version and expands the section on parts testing. While there doesn’t appear to be a lot of interest in this subject I’ll make at least this update so the information is as correct as I can get it.)
