Bin in list view - unable to place component

list view does not work - icon view works fine ! version 1.0.2 Windows 10

any help appreciated

As you say icon view works fine. Win10 Fritzing 1.0.2. List view doesn’t. That needs to be reported as a bug on github here:

icon view (the default):

list view:

does what your image above shows (but I can’t capture it with snip and sketch!) So you need to report it with the above image on github to get it fixed.
