AppImageLauncher support

Hello, thanks for a new release, but I can’t launch 1.0.6 on Ubuntu 24.04. 1.0.5 works.

The same situation on Ubuntu 25.10 and Linux Mint 22.2.

We have tested the AppImage with Manjaro KDE 25.0.9, Mint 22.2 Mate, Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 24.04, and Ubuntu 25.10 .

Fresh default installations, the AppImage runs out of the box.

Fedora too, but honestly I don’t know what a ‘default’ installation means there, because using the defaults I ended up in a terminal without GUI, and had to install all that additionally. After that, AppImage could be started as is.

Thank you for answer. I can’t understand what different are appimages 1.0.6 and 1.0.5 for operating systems. I use Mint 22.2 Cinnamon and Ubuntu main edition. My operating systems are not fresh installations, they are upgraded from older versions. May be this is a reason. Anyway now I’m using KiCad and fritzing is only to look to the older projects. Thank you again for excellent application.

There shouldn’t be much of a difference in starting the AppImage, if any.
Are you saying your Fritzing 1.0.5 AppImage works, and 1.0.6 doesn’t?

Do you have an error message?

No, but I’m using AppimageLauncher application for integration of appimages to the OS. Is this a problem for Fritzing 1.0.6?

I can confirm that 1.0.6 works for me straight away on Ubuntu 24, is it possible that your app image has no (execution) permission rights?

Do you have a desktop shortcut for both?

There is no “AppImageLauncher” on Ubuntu 24.04 .

The official release of AppImageLauncher here is only two days old: Release Continuous build · TheAssassin/AppImageLauncher · GitHub

Since all that is needed is to set the executable permission on the AppImage, it seems unlikely that any wrapper or launcher whatsover would cause issues.

I’d like to test it out, but without any error message or any details how you installed the launcher, there is no point in even trying. there is not much I can help with.

I installed the latest version of AppImageLauncher, clicked on the fresh downloaded AppImage. The launcher asked me if I want to integrate or run once.
I first tried run once, worked out of the box.
Then I tried integrated, and it worked out of the box.

So, all I can say is “it just works”. Sorry if that isn’t off any help.

I use older version of AppImageLauncher. Permissions are set, of course. Thank you for answers, your research is very useful. I’ll do some experiments to solve my situation by myself. Thank you for help.

Sorry, they has permission rights. My problem is, may be, old version of AppImageLauncher. Thank you for answer.

Thank you for your help. Problem is solved. Reason was old version of AppImageLauncher.
