I’m not opposed to participating in development costs, but I find it wrong to get only a pale copy of directory instead of a real msi!
I hope that this gap will be quickly resolved …

Your best bet would be to file an enhancement request on github. I don’t remember a request for a Windows installer anywhere (and there are enough bugs that need fixing that I doubt it is currently a priority.) Of course a pull request that added an installer would be even better. Enhancement requests can be filed here (as should bug reports):
