Linux Fritzing Update

Versuche seit gestern Fritzing auf meinem Linux Mint 17.3 an den Start zu bekommen.
Aus der Anwendungsverwaltung kann ich die alte 0.9.0 installieren und auch starten, nun möchte ich aber die aktuelle Version.
Leider bietet Fritzing in der alten Version ja keine automatischen updates, daher habe ich mir das Runter geladen und auch die ./Install_fritzing.sh ausgeführt.

Also Fritzing gestartet und immer noch die alte Version
Wenn ich das 0.9.0 komplett runter schmeiße und nur die neue Installieren will, selbe spiel mit identischen angaben nur das danach nirgends eine Installation zu finden ist oO

Die beiligende readme ist leider auch nicht sehr hilfreich.

Try sudo apt-get remove fritzing

then run these instructions to extract and run

Sorry, i had written in German because I do something difficult with English.
I have deleted it now and repeatedly downloaded
Unzip failed with the following message

The file is located in the folder and can only be opened and unpacked with Ark via the graphical interface.

So I can now start it over the console though, but in a much too big resolution (I guess 800x600) and it draws over 2 monitors. I can not find a menu item to change the resolution.

For what is then actually the install_fritzing.sh if the nothing installed?

What about running on CentOS 7?

I searched the forums and not a single hit for “CentOS”

I went through some of the info on the github site and none of the suggestions worked.

Is there a prebuilt package for this?

If not, what release of Linux is guaranteed to work? I can install a VM and do it that way but I’d sooner have it run right on my desktop.

EDIT: ideally I just want to add an RPM and have yum (or apt) manage all the dependencies for me. I don’t want to flounder through building a lot of sub-components. So if it is not easy to get going on CentOS 7 I just need a distro where I can “yum -y install” or “apt-get -y install”.

The usual problem I have with Centos is they tend to be running the older stable versions of stuff as is sensible for a production server platform. I suspect (but don’t know for sure) that Fritzing is more leading edge than that. That said the general requirements are specified in the developer wiki at

ich kann leider auch nicht helfen - bin (immer noch) kein linux rookie, und mit fritzIng fange ich eben erst an

schreib doch mal ein @landracer vor Deine Antwort an ihn, damit er auch sicher auf sie aufmerksam gemacht wird!

Er dürfte sich jedenfalls auf der Kommandozeile gut auskennen.

Hast Du Dir schon das TOPIC angesehen, aus dem er seinen post kopiert hat?

evtl. findet sich dort ein Hinweis,
ICH hab dort jedenfalls entdeckt, dass man seine Prints zu Hause heute irgendwie mit dem Laserdrucker machen kann

OFF TOPIC (weil die beiden Kasperln da oben eh schon eine centos OT Diskussion gestartet haben):

Hätte mich von der linux Seite her interessiert, da ich kürzlich ein ähnliches Phänomen hatte:

Ubuntu 16.04, Treiber für den neuen HP Laserdrucker;
gesucht, gefunden, den vermeintlich aktuellsten installiert;
Verwunderung: bietet update an
OK, durchgeführt, danach noch immer die selbe Version

Nach nochmaligem Runterladen (war ich auf eine andere site gelinkt worden?) hat die Installationsroutine dann die “alte” Version erst de- und anschließend die aktuelle installiert.

Irgendwo muss aber doch der Wurm drin gewesen sein, und dem wollte ich auf den Grund gehen. Drum hab ich mich hier eingeklinkt

Habe mich über 20 Jahre mit den Macken von Windows rumgeplagt und viele Nächte verplempert, um so mehr möchte ich jetzt linux verstehen und beim Ausmerzen eventueller Bugs mithelfen.

Daher meine Frage

Linux ist klasse, aber ich befürchte, dass die vielen unterschiedlichen Distros und Repositorien zunehmend zu solchen Problemchen führen werden…

Hallo,

ich mach das ganz einfach. Ich lade mir die zip Version. Installiere Wine und erstelle mir einen Starter zu Frizing.sh.

Vorteil: ich entpacke jedesmal die neue Version nur in den passenden Ordner.

Unter Linux Mint 17.3 musste ich für die neue Version auch Java 8 installieren. Funktioniert super.

Funktioniert auch mit anderen Programmen.

Not sure what instructions you’ve read or worked threw. BUT there is absolutely NO need to install WINE on LINUX to install or run Fritzing. In-fact that is nothing short of absurd. That of which I must note. Why? Because it potentially mis-leads a community of people on an improper avenue to install and use Fritzing. DO NOT USE WINE. Period.

IF you are having problems getting Fritzing to run on your native LINUX enviroment, I’d be happy to help you with the proper way to get your fritzing running. BUT lets start with what problem you are having.

ALSO note, you can private message me with your Linux issues, if you feel more comfortable with that route. Whatever’s clever, lets just get you guys sorted out, ASAP.

Sorry my response is in English not German. I’m not very good with my German. I know, that sucks. BUT, if you use Google chrome, there is a built-in translator, that should suffice.
