Hi Peter, I am sure I am overthinking this. It will work and the ratlines were removed when I crossed the tracks at the DCC in terminal. It still accords with the schematic but in my inexperience I didn’t like the fact that the two tracks that “crossed” at the screw terminal were not needed to cross to make it work.
Next action is to breadboard the 6N137 part of the circuit and run some test software before I get the PCB manufactured. Thanks for all the help on this forum.
PS I am using the latest version of the Fritzing software.
Can you upload the .fzz file for that part that has the extra rats nest lines please? That should tell me what is going wrong. If I uncross the DCC lines it indeed shorts the DCC connector, but it doesn’t change the diode:
The connections are polarized and must connect to the same wire in all views, if you reverse them in one view that will reflect in to the other two views with rats nest lines and I expect that is what is biting you.
Hi Peter, that was it, I have flipped the connector in the schematic and changed the traces. No odd ratlines and PCB now looks like your version. Thankyou.
