Did you pay for your students? Or did they pay for their own downloads? Or pay once for a shared login?

Good morning,

I did a bit more research.

With Fritzing, you only pay for the download. This helps partially fund the ongoing development of the project.
Fritzing’s source code is licensed under the [GNU GPL v3](https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.de.html). It would be possible to create custom versions of Fritzing and **redistribute** them, as long as they are also released under the GPL.

That’s why I paid for Fritzing a few years ago and then made it available to my students, or rather installed it on the school computers.

On Linux, this was especially straightforward with the AppImage: the file simply needed to be made executable and could then be launched directly. No actual installation was required.

I’ll ask again in the forum with a new thread.

Best regards,
Harald
