By the sounds of it you are trying to make an exposed copper image. To do that you have to make a custom part which is not easy.
If you upload the sketch file (the .fzz file) using the upload button (7th from the left on the reply tool bar) we can have a look at what you are trying to do and perhaps tell you whats wrong.
